System Requirements

BLACKWOOD’s Steam page published minimum and recommended PC specs in August 2026. This tool restates that table, explains the footnotes, and tells you what is still unknown. It is not a benchmark. Act 1 is still upcoming on September 16, 2026, so nobody has a public review-build frame-time graph this wiki can cite. For the launch itself, see release date. For how the game plays if your PC clears the bar, see Getting Started.

Minimum (1080p Low, 30 FPS, native)

  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 / Intel Core i5-10400F
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1650 / AMD Radeon RX 570 / Intel Arc A380
  • DirectX: 11
  • Storage: 30 GB, SSD required
  • Notes: FSR2 available as an optional performance mode

If you are on a hard disk, you do not meet minimum. If you have 8 GB of RAM, you do not meet minimum. Those two lines knock out a lot of “it ran GTA V” machines. Plan an upgrade before you plan a build.

  • OS: Windows 10 / Windows 11 64-bit
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X / Intel Core i5-12400F
  • RAM: 16 GB
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 / AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT / Intel Arc A750
  • DirectX: 11
  • Storage: 30 GB, SSD required, NVMe recommended
  • Notes: DLSS / FSR2 for higher resolutions or extra headroom; DirectX 12 optional on supported hardware for improved PSO stability

RAM does not jump from min to rec. The GPU and CPU do. If you have 16 GB and a 3060-class card on NVMe, you are in the intended 1080p High 60 bucket. 1440p and 4K are “use upscalers” territory, not a third official row.

How to decide in five minutes

  1. Check RAM. Less than 16 GB is a no.
  2. Check storage type. HDD is a no. 30 GB free on SSD is the floor.
  3. Compare GPU to 1650 / 570 / A380. Weaker than that is a no for the official 30 FPS target.
  4. If you sit between 1650 and 3060, expect to live on FSR2 and Low–Medium until reviews exist.
  5. If you sit at or above 3060 / 6600 XT / A750, use High as the opening preset and drop effects before you drop resolution.

Laptop users: match the GPU name, not the CPU marketing sticker. An “RTX 3050 laptop” is not a desktop 3060. Close the lid on wishful thinking and look at VRAM.

Upscalers, APIs, and settings the page actually names

FSR2 is the performance net for the minimum spec. DLSS appears on recommended, which implies NVIDIA cards in that tier can choose it. DirectX 11 is the listed path. DirectX 12 is optional for PSO (pipeline state object) stability — that is a stutter-reduction note, not a graphics-quality preset. If Act 1 stutters on first shader compile, try the DX12 toggle before you wreck the preset.

Camera comfort, custom volume, subtitles, and adjustable difficulty are listed separately as accessibility. They do not lower GPU need, but they do let you keep a cinematic camera from making you sick. See controls.

What is not listed

  • Steam Deck: unknown
  • Mac / Linux: not supported on the store page
  • VRAM amounts per card: not specified beyond the example GPUs
  • Ray tracing: not mentioned
  • Frame generation: not mentioned

Do not copy estimated tables from third-party “requirement guesser” sites that still say 8 GB of RAM. Steam’s own table is 16 GB. This wiki follows Steam.

After you pass the check

Passing the spec check does not pay hush money. Once the game launches, your first in-world problem is the shop and the two wallets — store management and the bill planner. Passing the spec check also does not pick your pad. Full controller support is listed; DualSense is listed; mouse and keyboard will still be there on PC.

If a day-one patch raises the minimum, this page will show the old and new rows. Until then, screenshot your dxdiag, compare it to the lists above, and only then hit the Steam wishlist or buy button in the header. AttritoM7 and IZilla Games put the table on the store for a reason. Use it.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How much RAM does BLACKWOOD need?

16 GB at both minimum and recommended, according to Steam. 8 GB is below spec.

Can I install BLACKWOOD on a hard disk?

Not if you want to meet minimum. The store page says SSD required. NVMe is recommended for the 60 FPS target.

What GPU is the minimum?

NVIDIA GTX 1650, AMD RX 570, or Intel Arc A380 for 1080p Low at 30 FPS. FSR2 is the extra performance mode.

Will it run on Steam Deck?

Compatibility is unknown on the listing. This page will update if Valve or the studio posts a verdict.
