Gamescom 2026 Recap

Gamescom 2026 was the first time BLACKWOOD left private playtests and trailer channels and sat in public hands. AttritoM7 Productions posted an official recap on Steam on September 2, 2026. This page files that recap: where the demo lived, what was announced on the Future Games Show stage, and what a booth slice is not. For the purchase stamp, stay on release date. For the three-act calendar, stay on the roadmap. For a systems preview, stay on the pre-release preview.

What the studio said happened

The recap is short and specific. Until Gamescom, BLACKWOOD had been shown as video and as closed playtests. The show was the first public hands-on. In partnership with Infernozilla and publisher IZilla Games, the team brought the first demo build to the Infernozilla booth. The location published ahead of the show was Hall 10.2, Indie Area, stand F044g–E061g, 26–30 August 2026.

On the Future Games Show stage during that week, the studio announced the number players had been waiting for: Act 1 on Steam, September 16, 2026. The embed on this page is the FGS upload of that release-date trailer — the same beat as the developer’s own September 16 clip on the release date page, captured from the show rather than from the studio channel. Watch it for the announcement context. Do not treat a stage trailer as a full demo recording.

The recap’s tone is gratitude, not a patch list. The studio thanked people who queued, creators who covered the booth, and the Gamescom floor. It asked players to wishlist. It did not publish a downloadable Steam demo, a mission list from the booth build, or a score. Anyone quoting “Gamescom 9/10” as a review of Act 1 is mixing a booth impression with a product that was still unreleased.

What the demo was — and was not

A show demo is a slice. It is chosen to survive a noisy hall, a short session, and a line. It is not Act 1’s four main missions plus a month of shop days. It is not proof that the 2012 New York map is a sandbox you can idle in; the official release announcement is explicit that BLACKWOOD is a focused linear campaign and not an open-world game. Booth streets can still look like a city.

If you played at the Infernozilla stand, treat what you felt — takedown weight, dive distance, the DVD counter as a joke that turned out to be a system — as a signal. Treat remembered HUD numbers, ammo counts, and unnamed guns as unconfirmed until the shipping inspect screen agrees. Combat and weapon customization stay the systems pages. This page stays the event page.

There is still no public Steam demo listed as a live product. If one appears after the show, it will get its own short child page under the Updates hub with what it includes and what it spoils. Do not download “BLACKWOOD demo” from a random mirror. The official storefront is the Steam app linked in the header.

How Gamescom changed the wiki calendar

Before the show, this site talked about a Q3 window. After the Future Games Show, the window became a night: September 16. After the September 2 recap, the public-hands-on fact was locked. Act 1 is still a $24.99 purchase that the studio says includes later acts as free updates. Act 2 remains March 2027. Act 3 remains September 2027. The recap did not move those dates.

Facebook copy from the studio around the announcement also described Act 1 as a complete story chapter with 6+ hours of gameplay, with more to come in later acts. That is a length claim from the developer, not a HowLongToBeat average, and it sits next to the four-main-mission structure on the roadmap. A six-hour chapter can still fail a save if you skip store management and miss the 11–13k month twice.

What to do with this page after September 16

When Act 1 is live, this URL stays a recap of a finished event. It will not become a live-service codes dump. BLACKWOOD is not a Roblox title and the official listing has no redeemable codes. Patch notes belong as new children under Updates, not as edits that pretend Gamescom never ended.

If you missed Cologne, you did not miss the game. You missed a queue. The useful next clicks are Getting Started, system requirements, and the official links hub for Steam news. Wishlist there. Play on the 16th if your PC matches the published minimum — 16 GB of RAM and an SSD included.

The Future Games Show clip below is the public record of how the date was staged. The Steam recap is the public record of how the booth felt from the studio’s side. Together they are enough. They are not a substitute for Act 1.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No public Steam demo is listed as a live product. The Gamescom build was a booth hands-on at Infernozilla, 26–30 August 2026.

Did Gamescom change the release date?

The Future Games Show during Gamescom is where Act 1’s September 16, 2026 date was staged. See release date.

Is BLACKWOOD open world because the booth looked like New York?

No. The official release announcement says it is a focused linear single-player game, not open world. Read the New York map page.

Where should I go if I did not attend?

Wishlist on Steam, confirm system requirements, then use Getting Started before September 16.
