BLACKWOOD Missions

Four main missions, side contracts, modifiers, and how replay actually works.

Missions and Walkthrough Hub

BLACKWOOD Act 1 launches September 16, 2026 with four main missions plus multiple side contracts. This hub documents the structure the studio has publicly confirmed, the replay rules, and what mission modifiers mean for your run. It does not invent plot details or fake mission titles. After launch, this same URL will host first-week walkthroughs written from the shipping build.

What Act 1 actually contains

The official release announcement is the structure bible:

  • 4 main missions in Act 1
  • Multiple side missions and contracts
  • 6+ hours estimated playtime for Act 1
  • Acts 2 and 3 as free updates (March 2027 and September 2027)

The studio has shown a prologue sequence in previews: Anton emerging from sewers toward Grand Army Plaza, a night street fight, and the DVD shop as the hub between missions. What those specific missions are called in-game has not been published with names in press materials. This wiki will not invent titles to fill a table.

Main missions versus side contracts

Main missions advance the story of Anton Blackwood’s double life. The studio describes the campaign as focused and linear, not an open-world structure. You move from the shop to the mission and back. Each main mission has a defined objective in the streets of Brooklyn or other New York locations shown in trailers.

Side contracts are repeatable or returnable missions with modifiers. Official commentary is consistent: side missions come back with modifiers such as tougher enemies, weapon restrictions, or time limits. That is why a “just do main missions” strategy is incomplete — side contracts are where the dual economy gets stressed and where your loadout decisions get tested.

Mission modifiers explained

The systems article introduced modifiers as a core loop mechanic, not a bonus mode:

  • Tougher enemies — enemies with more health or better reactions
  • Weapon restrictions — a specific weapon class is disabled or a required loadout
  • Time limits — missions that clock how fast you can clear them

These modifiers change how you approach each replay. A weapon that dominates a main mission may be useless under a side contract’s restriction. This is why weapon customization and builds matter for consistency across varied content. A modular, flexible loadout survives modifiers better than a specialist build.

Replay and the calendar

Main missions can be replayed at any time after completion. Side contracts also return. This has two implications:

  1. A failed night is not permanent. You can replay, improve your loadout, and try again.
  2. Replaying still moves the calendar. Sleeping advances the month. The 11–13k bill does not wait for a perfect run.

The practical result: use replays for practice and Dirty Cash farming, but budget shop days so the month does not slip while you are grinding mission replays. See dual economy and store management for the cash flow rules.

The prologue as a tutorial replacement

Previews have consistently shown the prologue as a tutorial wrapped in narrative. Anton comes up from a sewer system into a night fight near Grand Army Plaza, which is a cinematic tutorial for the combat system: dive, gun, melee, takedown, staged health. The shop opens after that sequence as the player learns the day half of the double life.

This means Act 1 does not open with a menu full of systems. It opens with a gun in your hand and a room to experiment in. Combat and controls prepare you for that opening better than a text list of keybinds.

What this page will gain after September 16

  • Real mission titles from the shipping build
  • First-week route advice for the four main missions
  • Specific modifier types and their in-game names
  • Any boss or key encounter notes without plot spoilers
  • Video embeds from real gameplay footage captured at launch

Until then, the release date, roadmap, and the gameplay trailer above are what we have. Use this hub to understand the shape of the content, not the content itself.

  • Guides hub — systems context and the full guide catalogue
  • Combat — gunplay, takedowns, staged health for mission encounters
  • Weapon customization — why modular builds survive modifiers
  • Builds — loadout guidance for varied mission types
  • Difficulty — Choreography Mode and hidden ammo affect mission runs
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many main missions are in Act 1?

Four main missions, plus multiple side contracts. See the official release announcement for the full structure.

Can I replay main missions?

Yes. Main missions can be replayed at any time. Side missions also return, often with modifiers.

What are mission modifiers?

Side missions come back with modifiers: tougher enemies, weapon restrictions, or time limits. A flexible loadout handles them better than a specialist.

Do mission replays skip the calendar?

No. Sleeping still advances the month. Replays are for practice and farming, not for ignoring the 11–13k monthly bill.
